Hi there,
i`m gonna build a 100sqm room for classical music recording and events up to 80 people here in germany. The room gets 7cm floating screed with underfloor heating and 10cm insulation underneath and can be entered directly from outside. Actually i`m thinking about what flooring would be best. Originally i wanted to use parquet but after i have spoken to some experts i`m quite sure it is to sensitive. I have seen parquet made of very hard wood and also industrial parquet but i`m afraid especially in the winter months there will be problems with wet shoes and saltwater. Now i`m thinking about using a vinyl designflooring inspired by wood that is directly glued to the screed. The optic is ok an i think the absorption coefficients would be fine for my use.
Do you have experience with vinyl flooring in recordings rooms and what flooring do you people prefer for your studios?
Cheers,
Chris
Parquet VS Vinyl Flooring

Hi Chris,
Studios commonly have either concrete floors or something like laminate flooring, ceramic flooring, hardwood flooring, or linoleum. It should be hard. In your case, if you are worried about salt water, mud, sand etc. then I'd say that ceramic tile flooring would be the best option.

Hi Stuart,
thank's for your reply :) If i`m going with Vinyl/PVC i`m thinking about using this, article number: PW 3037 CP. I've added the technical data sheet below.
It`s a PVC-floor covering for high commercial and heavy duty redisential applications.
But you are right, ceramic tiles would be also an option. I`ve already seen a few but so far i have not found the right ones. I will go and see some others :)
Cheers,
Chris
