Hi guys,
I'm pretty new around here and have been spending a fair bit of time the last couple of weeks reading through the 'stickies' and finding out just how much I don't know!
Anyway, onto my question... I have a 'besser brick' garage (8.1m x 5.5m) that I'm planning on converting into a studio down the track. I've put together a pretty basic .skp of my layout and am just looking for some feedback on it.
at 11mb it was too big to attach so here's a link to it: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8Op8s ... sp=sharing
I've divided the space into a control rm, live rm and booth. I've tried to keep a few principles in mind with the design:
*Minimizing parallel surfaces in the control room
*Visibility between rooms
*Balancing size of control rm / live rm to be able to record a rock band live but not be mixing in too small a space
*Having separate spaces to use for isolating musicians when tracking
I guess the feedback I'm looking for, is before I start planning the finer points (actual construction methods/materials etc.) is there anything I've overlooked in the design in terms of:
*Practicality?
*Acoustic design principles?
*Difficulties with construction?
*Anything else that will cause me headaches later?
Thanks for your help - I'm just loving this forum!
Regards,
Darren
