What do I put on my wooden door to get it to close if I'm using magnetic seals? Are all magnetic seals similar from a soundproofing perspective? I'm thinking of Zero International 370A or Pemko 2815CM, Pemko is a lot cheaper though for some reason. Also, do I need to install rabbeted trim over the magnetic gasket like I do with the trunk rubber seals? Which rabbeting tool would you recommend if I'm on a budget?

I would still use a suitable automatic door closer, something like this:

I've never tried Pemko, but I do know that the Zero International units work well. Not cheap, though...

Mount them whichever way the manufacturer recommends. As far as I know, ZI does not require rabbeting. You might still want to add some form of trim to hide the actual mechanism, though, but that's just an aesthetic thing, not acoustic. - Stuart -
Thanks, I have some more questions about door seals. Rod said to use 6D and 8D nails to attach the rabbeted trim. Why two sizes and not just one? Also, what screw size and length should I use to attach the steel strips to the door?
