I was wondering if anyone might be interested in getting together via Google+ Hangouts, perhaps once a month or so, to discuss studio design and construction techniques and considerations. I thought it might be a great way for us to continue to support one another as we grow in our knowledge, as well as provide valuable knowledge assets for future builders.
It'd be awesome to get some of the completed builders to come talk with us about their experience and show us around their space, and similarly it would be amazing to get some of the Studio Guru's to come join in too. We could also use the opportunity to show our studios-in-construction and the various stages and details necessary for a successful build. I always have found the pictures in build threads to be so very helpful so I have to imagine that live, interactive video could really be a superb addition.
For any of you that have not used Google+ Hangouts before, it's a way to conduct Video Chatting (and screen sharing) with up to 10 participants. All you need is a webcam, headset, and the free Google+ plugin. We could also simulcast the stream live to YouTube for anyone that just wants to watch rather than interact, and the archived performance would remain there for future generations of builders. I'm throwing my hat in the ring to set it up and coordinate it as my small way of giving back to this tremendous community.
Perhaps if there's enough interest we could schedule a pilot, see how it goes, and take it from there.
Thoughts?
Any interest in a Studio Building Group Video Chat?
