Thinking about how to ventilate the freestanding iso booth that I am thinking of building. Since this is a freestanding unit there is no ceiling space to run ductwork through so I was considering attaching a plenum to the side of the booth. Then I had the idea of using the airspace behind the rigid sound treatment as part of the 'ductwork' (see attached) Apart from generally whether this will work it raised some other questions. First, is this enough distance and turns in the air path to absorb the fan noise? I could zig-zag the flow on the outside more times if needed. How much distance/turns is considered sufficient? How porous is 703 or JM? Could I skip the gap at the top and have the air come THROUGH the insulation? Since the booth is going to be TIGHT I will need an intake duct of similar length and turns. I was thinking of making it a vertical mirror of this exhaust diagram, so that the intake is at the floor. Would ti be better to have an exhaust fan only and have the intake be free flowing, an intake fan only and have the exhaust be free flowing, or have two smaller fans, one each for intake and exhaust? Any suggested source for reliable and quiet fans?
