Best ceiling height for live room

So I've been in a basement for 5 years....height....7.5 feet......I have a complex...Not sure wether to build from ground up..or save money and go into a 1400 ft building with 10ft ceilings. There are beams in the ceiling...I would have to build a room in a room...any suggestions... Tim

when you stand in a room with a 7.5ft ceiling the closest wall, hence first reflection, is the ceiling. cheers john
