construction has started in my basement, i ended up using the sonar studio design from this site.
but anywho, one wall is single walled, and the other one is double walled with 2x3 studs, now i have read somwhere about leaves of a wall, and if you have 3 of them its bad? but 4 or 2 are good? what exactly is a leaf, and what about having 3 being bad?
so would a drywall/insulation/soundboard/airspace/insulation/drywall wall be bad?
question about double walling

Yes that would be bad.
a leaf is one composite wall of solid materials.
ex. drywall/soundboard/celotex/frywall is one leaf that would then be attached to studs. Basically the studs just old the leaf up.
On that double sided wall, just remove the drywall off of the inside leaf leaving the outer leaf in tact.
so to modify your problematic design, just place the soundboard underneath or on top of the drywall layer. to read like this
drywall/soundboard/insulation/airspace/insulation/drywall

This is a 3 leaf system. What you want is Mass / Air (includes insulation) / Mass What you have above is Mass/air/mass/air/massso would a drywall/insulation/soundboard/airspace/insulation/drywall wall be bad?
alright guys, thanks for clearing that up,
when i use the soundboard, should i put it on the drum room side of the wall? or the control room side? also can i just attach the soundboard to the studs, and then the drywall over it, right into the studs through the wallboard?
I'd put it on the drum side.
