Post-frame construction (sometimes called pole frame or timber frame) is building method that is less expensive (no need for foundation - hence no basement) and often built over cement slab, usually steel roof. See Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post-frame_construction I am considering the option of putting up a samll post-frame recording studio, but haven't found much on the topic. I want to make sure there is no inherent acoustic issues with this kind of construction before pulling the trigger. an example of a small post-frame building: http://www.wickbuildings.com/assets/ima ... 080609.jpg Anyone have an informed opinion on this topic?

The outer shell won't affect your acoustics (to a large degree), it'll affect your isolation. A steel roof will be the weak point in this construction in terms of isolation no matter what you do with the walls and floor. steve
