I am in the process of researching and designing a tracking room inside my loft. I live on the third floor and my walls, floor, and ceiling are all concrete. My entire loft is about 1500sq ft, and I am able to use a portion of that space to build a tracking room and a control room. The space I have for the tracking room has the following dimensions: 10.5ft for the ceiling, 12ft wide, and 16ft deep. I have read many posts regarding air gaps in walls and why not to make a floating floor. I plan on building a double studded wall out of 2x4 with insulation and an air gap in the center. I also plan to use Glenn's drum riser to stop vibration from shaking the apt beneath,(open to any opinion on that) My problem at the moment is that I need to put a ceiling over the top of the whole thing because I often get vibration through the ceiling from the neighbor above. The only problem is that there are fire sprinkler heads about 1ft away from the ceiling. I was wondering if is is possible to mount Iso clips directly to the concrete and then put on the resilant channel so that the ceiling does not take up as much space. I read on another website about putting c-channel directly into a concrete ceiling and then putting iso clips in that and then putting the resilant channel on that. I dont want to change the routing of the sprinkler heads and I certainly don't want to put a ceiling under them. Any replies/comments would be appreciated.
