Hi there,
I am reading all I can on this forum as I am about to start my first studio build in the next year. With this post I hope to get some info on things to consider with this project. I've been in the recording business for about 20 years. This will be my first serious place. I just did edit/mix stuff in my loft before. I did work at awesome studio's though. I'll describe the place I want to build the studio in first.
I have about 225 square meters (2420 square feet) of space on the third floor of a church building. It is (roughly) 15 by 15 meters. The height is about 4 meters. The church has a 1500 seat great hall which I hope to connect to the studio (by madi) for concert recordings. There is an elevator to the third floor at the other side of the building. I don't think I'll have problems with that making noise bleeding into the studio.
I want to build a place with 1 control room, a main recording area and 3 iso booths. I would also like a smaller room for some edit work or recording the great hall while the studio is in use and a machine room. There is no need for toilets or a tv room or anything. That's already there. I am in the lucky position that the contractor likes what I'm trying to do and is willing to help.
Over the last years I've been working up to this. I have bought the equipment I needed secondhand (some awesome bargains) as they came along. I have 2 macpro's with MADI cards inside. For the main studio I have an Antelope Orion converter and some awesome outboard. I have bought an Amek Hendrix Console about a year ago for next to nothing from a studio that went bankrupt.
I hope this is enough info to start with. I will provide more info as I get it. I know there are plans of the building which I hope to get soon. It would be awesome to get some tips and opinions on this. Thanks!
New studio on the 3rd floor

Just hoping for some tips and tricks in the idea/planning stage of this project.
Has anybody build a studio on another floor than ground floor around here?
I'm studying and trying some stuff with scetch up right now. Hope to make it a little more clear later on in this project.
