Hi there! I just registered, but I have been reading alot of posts here before!
And it's fun to read the threads and see your studio buildings!
I am planning to build a studio here in Sweden.
My father is a carpenter and my brother is an electrician so I guess we could do it for a low cost.
I read that here in Sweden a normal house (if you do it yourself) could be as low as $1225 / m2
I guess this can't be calculated on a studio, because there is double walls, floating live room, windows between LR & CR and so on...
But how much do you think it would differ from a normal house cost calculation?
I was thinking a building about 100m2, with a bedroom and a kitchen.
Do you have a drawing of "the perfect" LR and CR to share with me as an idea? :)
What would you say would be the best size of the rooms? I don't wanna build it from scratch and then realize it's too small :P
I guess it's hard for you to say what I need and what I'm going to record, just as it is for me right now, but would you recommend me to build a vocal booth aswell? Or maybe just a dead room? Or both? How often do YOU use it? I guess I won't record a whole band at the same time that much that I would need it, but if I don't build it I guess I would need it haha.
I've seen alot of rooms in the pictures here but I don't know how they sound :P

In general, building a studio costs about 20% to 50% more than a similar sized house. But how much do you think it would differ from a normal house cost calculation?
You do not need to float your live room! Or your control room. That's a myth. Here's a really great thread about that: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8173 If you do want to float your rooms, then change the above numbers to about 100% to 150% more than a standard house. Please also read the forum rules for posting (click here). You seem to be missing a couple of things! :) - Stuart -floating live room,
