Hello, I would love to have your advice for building my own project studio. The past years I was doing some production. My room was simply a bedroom, i've got to pay a studio quite often to record drums, for guitar, voice and other instrument I was able to record them at home. So now I have put money back and I'm able to build my own personnal/project studio. I will build it in my garden I can build a building between 30-34m2 (outside size). I will build it on my own. I need some help to optimize the inside layout and also the shape of the building. I need: -A control room -A live room for primaly drums tracking -A vocal booth would be nice (or I'll use the live room) -A Little machine room for computer... Do you think I can do something good between 30 to 34m2 ? So first step (I Think) is to define the shape of the studio and then the layout. Any help are really welcome. thanks in advance for your time.
Hey Man! This isn't really a place to come and get a freebie professional design. There's some real experts on the site, who often give pro help to noobies like us, but they help us with OUR designs... This site is a great place to help you get started in understanding what you need to know... I know I've learned a ton from this site, and keep on learning how little I know. If I can suggest, why don't you put together a basic plan of what you think might be good, and then ask for comments on that? There's several designs on the site that you can use for inspiration. If you really don't want to put in much work to learning, you'll probably be best off just using one of those without any modifications. Here's an example that John Sayers generously posted onto the site. Just looking at the details is an education in what's important and what's not important in a small studio. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5457 Good luck with your project! In answer to your costs question, they generally estimate it to be $100 per square foot to build a studio, so that should give you a framework in figuring out how large a studio you can construct.
Hi Nico. Please read the forum rules for posting (click here). You seem to be missing a couple of things! :) Also, Johnnie is right in his comments. This is more of a "self help" place, where you can show your design once you get it as far as you can with your own knowledge, then post that here for others to comment on, and take you to the next level. If you want your place designed professionally, instead of doing it yourself, then contact John for a quote. - Stuart -
