Hello everybody, i'm happy to have found a new place for a new studio in Amstetten/Lower Austria/Austria. We, me and a friend, want to recording, mix and mastering there. We were doing it just for fun, as a hobby, but in future maybe as a serious job. The live room should also be a practise room for the band of my colleague. We tried different designs last weeks, and ended up with the following design, but we would be glad for an idea of a floorplan or a construction advice. facts: The Room is 148m² , with 4m height, in a cellar of an old construction-material factory/dealer. (now there are some other things in it, …). There are no windows, and the walls are 65cms thick. Generally it looks like a bunker. So, we don’t expact any problems with neighbours  Not like in this thread We want to have a ctrl room, deadroom, live room and maybe a chillroom. the cillroom is also the area where the entrance is. But we are not sure about that . Our budget is about 5Keur. So we just want to build walls that we really need,… To separate the ctrl room from the live room and from the dead room, we planned a double stud wall with an air gap. In the picture there is no insulation showed, but in real, there will be 8cms thick insulation between every stud. Between the live and dead room there is only a single studwall without any air gap. That’s suboptimal, but for us its ok when the insulation between live and dead room is “not that good” Back of ctrl: If we build a chillroom, then we want to build a single studwall without an air gap, cuz, then there is a second single studwall without any air gap in between. If we build no chillroom, then we want to build a a double stud wall with an air gap. The shape of the ctrl room: Left and right 12° walls, in the front there are 45° walls (not 30°) cuz we need to get into the dead room. If there were 30° walls, there would be no space to geht into the dead room. See foto detail2 We also cannot (or we do not want) move the sweetspot backwards in the ctrl room, cuz thre is a big stack in the middle of the cellar (1,5m x 1,6m) and then it would not be possible to look into the live room (through the window). We also wanted to create a RFZ, but I have problems to understand how it works with the reflections across the room. In the thread above I've already asked for it. For me it seems that almost every studio with 12° walls has this certain problem, so, how do they fix it? Is there some insulation material on the wall? The sketchup file is to big to upload it here, so I did some 2d exports, i hope that`s fine. questions: - what do you think about the layout? are there any better ways to have this rooms in this area? is there enough space behind the sweet spot in the crtl room? - How can i create a RFZ with 12° walls. I don’t get the point. For me it seems that you will always have reflections with a 12° wall. Foto detail5 - Is it possible to get a slat reso like i built it on the right wall in the ctrl room. see foto detail3 Thx for advices and best regards... gimmick
