Hi John, This is Pramath from Bangalore . I am trying to build a new studio at my house basement . Logically i have many restrictions regards to the wall and structure . I have attached a design which i have come up with referring to your older posts . The kind of music i usually work here is lot of Indian classical music and i also record some drums and percussion. Waiting for your expert advice ... Cheers , Pramath Kiran

I most definitely don't qualify as an expert. Just a fellow amateur, so take what I say with a grain of salt. Still, I do note a couple of things that jump out at me. (also just a quick heads up re: filling out all the stuff in the "before you post" section") Re: dimensions, it sure looks like there's problematic room dimensions planned. An example would be the 12x14 room. They are both divisible by a common denominator and you want to avoid that. It looks like you're planning on soffit mounting. If so, I believe the speakers would be flush with the front of the soffits rather than poking out so much in order for the system to work as designed.. Is that black circle your intended listening position? You'd want to avoid having your listening position at the middle of the room. Also, if that's where you plan on sitting, you should plan on the intersection of sound to happen behind your head... basically so your ears are in the path of the triangle you're charting out. Also, are those hard boundaries in the back or is that room treatment? If it's a hard boundary, I often read on this forum that we want to avoid having the back of the control room become narrower. Either expanding or remaining the same width is the general rule for a stereo setup. There's a couple of threads with a 90 degree mounting on the control room the way you've done here. You can check those out for more help with the room. Right now, it looks like this pic is showing a floor plan, but there's no space for walls in it. Are you doing an MSM system? That's going to need some space... are these the room dimensions before the walls are built, or after the walls are built? That 6 foot dimension on the iso rooms might begin to be cramped once all 4 sides have the double layer was, 4 inches of air spring, and each leaf has 2 sheets of 5/8ths in board. You might consider picking up Rod's book. it's got a lot of useful info as you're entering your design phase. Some of that info is on this forum, but getting the book would save you an awful lot of legwork tracking it down. http://www.amazon.com/Home-Recording-St ... 143545717X
I agree with Johnnie. He's pretty much spot on with everything he said. Nothing more to add! - Stuart -
