For a small room, what is best: Suffitmounted speakers in the corners or Freestanding speakers closer to center? Thanks!
Soffit mounted is much, much better, for many reasons, but even so, they should not be in the corners. They should be about 30% of the room width away from the room corners. - Stuart -

Thanks! Well, in my case space is a major consideration. But I'll see if I can come up with a design that allows suffit-mounting closer to centre.
I'm not sure I understand the problem: there is no issue here with space. If you soffit mount with the speakers in the corners or with them closer together, does not affect the usage of space in the room. The soffits take up roughly the same amount of space into the room in both cases. - Stuart -

Well, to me it seems obvious that for a small room suffit-mounted spekers 30% from the corner needs a lot more volume taken from the room vs mounted in the corners.

mount the speakers at 90 degrees instead of 60 degrees. check out this page. http://www.johnlsayers.com/Pages/Hello_Testing.htm
Thanks! That is what I hoped to hear :) 90 degrees in the corner, with rest of corner being a basstrap could be an optimal solution for me. Problem would be mix-position taking to much of the tracking-space. I'll see what I'll do about that..
