Hey guys,
I was checking out the inside out wall and inside out ceiling details in Johns "original recording manual", I was wondering, is there a detail around that shows how to construct an inside out ceiling on top of normal walls (plastered on the inside)?
Would you construct it exactly the same way but just place the plaster on the inside of the walls or are there other rules to be followed?
I really like the look of inside out walls with cloth/resonator finish but the wife and I dont know how long we will keep this house and Im thinking that standard painted plaster walls may seem more appealing to the average potential home buyer. If I was to do normal plaster walls I would make and attach my own broadband absorbers to them, which I know will shrink the room but at least I can take them down if we decide to move.
thanks,
inside out cieling with "normal walls"

That's pretty much it, yes. You only need to make sure that there is continuity in the mass between the wall and the ceiling, and that you have good air-tight seals, of course. Apart from that, the details of how you accomplish that is up to you, and your building code.Would you construct it exactly the same way but just place the plaster on the inside of the walls or are there other rules to be followed?
Or you could build inside-out anyway, then if you do ever decide to move, just put up then drywall on the studs and paint it. That would make the room look perfectly normal again, at low cost, while still giving you full benefit of the inside-out construction for as long as you live there... :) - Stuart -I really like the look of inside out walls with cloth/resonator finish but the wife and I dont know how long we will keep this house and Im thinking that standard painted plaster walls may seem more appealing to the average potential home buyer.
