and i need to chose the listening position because of the small room and its almost square
i know ill have problems but need to decide where to put table so i can continue with work

Hi " Kodin", and welcome! :)
Forget the carpet! That's a really bad idea in a studio: take a look at photos of professional studios: how many have fully carpeted floors? NONE! There's a reason for that... The acoustic properties of carpet are very unsuitable for studios.concrete + laminate + carpet
There is a more or less "standard" way of laying out the listening position and speaker geometry for a room. I have explained it many times on the forum myself, and I know others have too, so please use the search feature to look for that. You will also need to do the "standard" basic treatment in your room, so look for threads with that too. - Stuart -but need to decide where to put table so i can continue with work can someone help me?
Hi Soundman and tnx for reply! :D
- ill remove the carpet from my unprofessional studio :)
- i already spend a lot of time on this forum and gearslutz but i have a very very small room i think i havent even seen
smaller room on this forum, and there is only two positions for a table i think because of the strange door position,
i know i need to make measurements to find out the best position but can u tell me just from the picture where would be better to start cause its almost square and when i calculate using the 38% rule and the triangle, it puts me almost in the middle of the room which is a bad thing as people say, so i dont have too many choices :(
- i know loudspeakers should face the long way into a room but in my situation its not that much longer, is this good for me to go by this rule because of the doors?
- this studio will only be for production not recording :)
- and yes i have very big speakers (A8X) for this room cause they were bought when i had a bigger room,
this will be a problem i think
- if there is a similar problem on the forum can someone direct me to it please?
tnx in advance!
please i'm stuck, anyone :?
I would put the desk facing the left wall (marked "outside wall"). Speakers on heavy, massive stands, up against that wall, with 10cm of OC-703 between them and the wall. Speakers 70 cm from side walls, angled inwards at about 30°. Chair set up so your head (ears) is about 1.1 m from front wall. Speakers should be aimed so that the axes intersect about 20cm behind your head. Speakers must be set up so that the axes are 1.2m above the floor. Put large "superchunk" bass traps in both front corners, and the right rear corner, all of them floor to ceiling. Half-panel (cut vertically) of 10cm OC-703 on the first reflection points on the side walls, floor to ceiling. Full panel of OC-703 on the rear wall, centered, leaning forwards: against the wall at the bottom, about 20cm away at the top. Cloud over the mix position (first reflection point on the ceiling): full panel of 10cm OC-703 across the room, angled so that is lower over the speakers and higher over the chair.
That should get you started! :)

ohh tnx this is great help!!!
is it a problem if i cant find OC-703 here in Croatia?
i have some acoustical Knauf insulation ill give their specs later need to check them
You can use ordinary fiberglass insulation, density of about 30 kg/m3, or ordinary mineral wool insulation, density of about 50 kg/m3. - Stuart -is it a problem if i cant find OC-703 here in Croatia?
I somehow accidentally got this Knauf RSB B GW insulation but didn't know where will i use it or how, its some kind of road sound barrier insulation:
Due to their acoustic properties (sound absorption and noise insulation) boards are used as core elements in road sound barriers and other sound absorbing / insulation systems, exposed to extreme outside influences http://www.oem.knaufinsulation.com/en/content/rsb-board-gw
should i use it for my panels, can't seem to find Knauf RSB B GW density, what do u think?
Hi,
I just wanna say big thanks for your help and time Stuart, my studio in basement is history now cause i got a new job and a i had to move to the other city,
i have spend lot of time and money on this basement i never tried it, too bad! But i need to work and i have a new room that is much better it is L=5.53m x W=3.83m x H=2.51m so something good has happened at least :D
Tnx again.
Great! Looking forward to seeing your new thread about that new room! That's a very nice size, too.... - Stuart -i have a new room that is much better it is L=5.53m x W=3.83m x H=2.51m so something good has happened at least
