Ok... my end goal with this room is to lay something out that will sound reasonably well in a live setting. Everything will be recorded live (only vocals tracked later & this might be somewhere else), so I won't be building seperate rooms. Most of the mixing will probably be done at a better studio, so I'm not too concerned about a control room either - my ideal situation would be to have a basic setup to monitor the tracks somewhere off to the side in the same room. This is for a band to lay down the base tracks themselves, so there will not be an engineer in a seperate room. The ceiling is about 7'3" high. I plan to treat it with Owens Corning 703(?). The drawing areas in grey (outlined in green dashed lines) are about 6'6" because of duct work, support beams...etc. There are a few more obstacles/piping around the room, but these are the major ones. I plan to build a wall to close off the laundry area & the A/C-Furnace area. Somewhere I'll build a small space for storage... but that can come after the studio design. This is an old house, which is why the support beams are so big. The walls are painted stone and the floor is concrete. The location of obsticles in this room have made it difficult to decide what to do. If anyone has any suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it. Any wall/material ideas are welcome too. I had planned on making angled walls & hanging some bass traps.. along with making a few slat resonator walls. Again, it would be ideal to have one big room... if it's even possible to make a room like this sound decent. Please help! :-) thanx - m@

I'll add - band setup is 4 piece drum kit, 2 guitars, & 1 keyboard. the main measurements & obsticals on the floor plan are correct, but the ductwork is somewhat estimated. I'm also not opposed the idea of a control room - I'd just much rather get as much as I can in terms of a live recording room since a control room would realistically be used very little once everything was setup... I know this is somewhat of a podunk method... but it's what I have to work with.
