Hello,
A friend of mine wants to build a studio in a place he's bought recently. I have attached plans of the place.
The arrow indicates the present access from the street (which could be moved). The top floor is the one where the toilets are (street level), the other one is a basement (although there are neighbours on the stairs side). The lower walls and floors seem to be concrete.
He needs to be able to record drums.
I would be very thankful if someone could give me some advice and help with this project, especially concept wise as it's a very good friend of mine and I promised to help the best I could.
Thanks a lot for your time and help
Cheers

Two Floors Studio from scratch - Need help and advice please

Hi Sono, and welcome! (También tenemos una sección del foro en español, si prefieres continuar así).
We'll need a lot more information than that in order to help you. For example, is this going to be a rehearsal area, a control room, a live room, or some combination of that? What is the purpose? Is this a commercial venture, or a hobby studio? How loud will your friend be? How quiet does he need to be? What is the budget? etc.
There are many, many variables that go into designing a studio, and they are all important, so give us as much information as you can.

Hello Stuart,
Thanks for your reply :)
I'll try my best to answer your questions: the idea is to have a small studio but, for professional use. I think he's got something like 15000 Euros for the insulation/treatment at the moment. He needs to be able to record drums and to use the main Live Room as a rehearsal room for his band. He obviously wants to meet the legal boundaries soundwise.
I think he could build a control room and a live room (or maybe two, one smaller, or maybe a vocal booth), depending on how much the cost would be, of course. The hard thing for me to decide is which way to go, concept wise. I was hoping for that to get some inspiration from your great ideas, guys :)
I came up with some ideas, but if you have different approaches that you see worth considering I'm all open to suggestions and advices.
Thanks a lot for your time and help
Cheers

Nobody?
Thanks a lot!!
So what's your problem? You got upset because some VOLUNTEERS who were helping you out for FREE, didn't happen to respond as quickly as you would have liked? :?: If you must know, I have a line of about 20-something threads awaiting response. I just happened to get to yours now. And it just went to the back of the line again, while I go help out folks who actually appreciate the time and effort I put in to helping them. - Stuart -Thanks a lot!!
Well honestly, it looks to me like you're having more of a problem than me….I'm not going to start any war or epic flaming episode, so I'll just say this once. You can then decide if to completely sabotage this thread or actually do something useful for it.
1) It is beyond my understanding what on Earth might have made you think my "Thanks a lot!!" post was directed at you in particular…
2) I didn't see any volunteers except yourself.
3) Nobody has helped with anything so far.
4) You have no idea if I have donated anything to this forum or not, so don't assume the word free so quick and easy.
5) I never demanded anything, I just asked, so don't patronize me assuming what I like or not, or if I'm upset or not. You just assume things to your convenience.
6) I thought this was a forum, not a one man show were people queue up waiting for Jedi Stuart to answer. I apologize for not realizing that.
7) Two weeks and a bump are more than enough time to ask for an answer in ANY forum in the world. I wasn't unpolite, aggressive and didn't insult anyone. If you feel targeted, offended, and decide to "punish" me for that putting me "to the back of the line", what can I say? I sincerely hope you don't have kids...
8 ) Since after those two weeks, in spite of your busy line of threads awaiting response, you actually did get an opportunity to participate in this thread, I appreciate and thank you for the time and effort you put in your answer's content.
Regards
Sono
 You might want to check your facts before making such silly comments! For the record nobody pays me to help out on this forum. The forum belongs to John, and as far as I know, the donations he receives go towards the costs of keeping the forum running. I have never received a single cent from John for helping out here. So yeah, despite what you might want to believe, any advice you get from me on the forum is given for free. Sorry to burst your bubble.4) You have no idea if I have donated anything to this forum or not, so don't assume the word free so quick and easy.
I never said any such thing... Not sure where you got that idea from!1) It is beyond my understanding what on Earth might have made you think my "Thanks a lot!!" post was directed at you in particular…
You haven't looked too far then, I guess...2) I didn't see any volunteers except yourself.
Patronize? :blah:5) I never demanded anything, I just asked, so don't patronize me assuming what I like or not, or if I'm upset or not. You just assume things to your convenience.
Jedi Stuart humbly apologizes for wanting to help you. That mistake again, he will not make, Padawan.6) I thought this was a forum, not a one man show were people queue up waiting for Jedi Stuart to answer. I apologize for not realizing that.
Well, that's your opinion, and you are entitled to it. But you know what they say about opinions... Just for the record, there are over 14,000 members here on the forum: there are hundreds of new posts per week. There are fewer than a dozen moderators. Regardless of how many might or might not be helping at any one time, that's a lot of threads that need answering and very few people to do it. Regardless of how fast you think we should jump when you say so, it just isn't humanly possible. And to be very honest, the folks that get the most help, fastest, are the ones that follow the forum rules best... Those that don't, well, they take a back seat. So your opinion on how fast forum members or moderators should bow at your beck and call, is irrelevant.7) Two weeks and a bump are more than enough time to ask for an answer in ANY forum in the world.
Ahh! So a very sarcastic "Thanks a lot", is not unpolite, not aggressive, and not insulting? Really? :lol:I wasn't unpolite, aggressive and didn't insult anyone.
Two, actually.... One's a doctor, the other is finishing high school. Why do you ask? And yeah, they too had to go to the back of the line when they got uppity. That's the way to teach unruly children discipline. It works. Boy, some people are just so... well... Hmmmm... I can't quite find the word for it... :) - Stuart -I sincerely hope you don't have kids...
