I just moved and have start renos sooner than I hoped, so I'm looking for some advice on designing these rooms. I have a basement that is roughly 28 x 20 x 9' 4". Although I'm a full-time musician, I also teach 40+ students a week out of my home and have another guy who comes in on one day to teach an additional 15 students. I need to divide this space into a washroom, rec/wait room, and two teaching rooms. The plan shown (not scale) divides the room as describe and gives me two rooms for teaching/recording. One room is 10x12 and the other is 10x10 with both ceilings are dropped on floating joists to 8' 4" (to avoid bulkheads on ductwork). Any tips for making these as useful as possible for recording, when I'm not teaching? I mainly record bass and guitars, drums and keys are done somewhere else or just using samples. These rooms may be too small for my monitors now, not sure...(Alesis MKIIs); in fact they may be too small in general, but it's what I have to work with;) Cheers! Note: the thick walls are double walls, double 5/8's, and Quiet Glue

Rok, You have to know that the same people that see things here, for the most part, will see it where your other thread is: http://recording.org/studio-constructio ... rooms.html I would suggest to pick a website and stick with it. I understand you are reaching out, but surprisingly enough the Internet is getting smaller and smaller every day. Just thank the God that you believe in that the Mayans got it wrong or we would all be without a job!!!
Haha, Yes I assumed as much; it's just that some of these forums have fairly slow traffics history so I wasn't sure ;) As for the Mayans, I've got friends in Australia so i knew everything looked fine :P
