Greetings!
Put the mixing desk on the "left" wall instead of the "top" - try to set it up so that the speakers fire down the long axis of the room. The room will be more symmetrical around the speakers this way, which will help the stereo imaging.
Otherwise it's a good start! Are you going to use gobos for isolation while recording?
Hi Kase,
Thanks for the reply. Yeah I am planning to use a gobo to finish off the lower right corner of the room (where acousitic foam will also be mounted to the the two converging walls). This will of course be the set-up for recording.
Then for mixing I was planning to use the same gobo to make the area in front of the monitors more symmetrical. Do you think this will be enough? It's just that I'm kinda of stuck on the idea of being able to look out of the window while I spend hours blending the tracks together.

Speaking of gobos...
Anyone have any good plans for easily moved gobos that could cover about 8 feet in length and be about 7 feet high?
Let me admit right up front that my knowledge of gobo construction is close to zero. But this is what I had in mind... 4 simple frames built with 1x4 poplar and measuring 2 feet by 7 feet. Wrap burlap or muslin around 3 inch thick rigid mineral wool and place into frames - perhaps case both sides of frames with a simple narrow casing (1x2) to hold mineral wool in the frames. These could be hung from the ceiling with a simple eye hook temporarily to make odd room layouts more symetrical.
Good idea, bad idea?
Comments, suggestions please.
Thank you,
Dan
I'm right there with you (not much of a DIY guy myself, but now would be the time to learn). My main problem is that I have no idea what these materials are in Finnish so pictures would help alot. I'll have to give the search function another go. cheers, JarkkoSpeaking of gobos ... Anyone have any good plans for easily moved gobos ...
