First of all I want to say Hi to everyone!
This forum is absoloutely awesome and the best I found on the Internet!
Respect!
I have a couple of problems :-)
I will likely move into my aunts house in the next few months.
She passed away 2 months ago and I will receive the house as her heir.
In the basement I want to build my recording studio.
There are three rooms which I want to change into a control room and a little studio (like a drum booth or so).
The rooms are separated like this at the moment
download/file.php?mode=view&id=45815s
and I want to change them into something similar to this
download/file.php?mode=view&id=45816
just to imagine what I'm talking about :-)
The rooms are divided by bearing walls. So I do have to remove at least one wall and put in a steel beam or a pole.
But the big problem is that the height is only 2,30 m!!
The floor is a concrete slab.
So I thought it maybe would be possible to cut the floor.....so that I can put in a frame for the walls that would sit below the concrete floor. But still the same problem with the height.
The measurements in the drawings are approximation. because I don't know the exact measurements yet.
But the height is 2,30 m....maybe 2,35 m but not more
The house is a detached building and the neighbour's house is rather close...about 5 meters....but I have no idea where their bedroom or living room could be :?
The most recorded and mixed music would be Heavy Metal...so much for that :?
Now my question:
Does it actually make sense to build a recording studio in such a place??
Thanks in advance and greetings from Germany
Tom
Is it worth to build a studio in here?

Although I almost live in Germany I don't have an idea of how much sound is permitted at the neighbours.
If you know that you can do a measurement and see if and how much you exceed the permitted sound levels.
And then you can investigate the possible solutions.
Hey thanks for your early reply!
but I was more unsure about the size of the room.
Does it make sense to plan a recording studio in a room that has a ceiling height of 2,35 meters?
I mean I would have to do some acoustical treatment to avoid parallelism between floor and ceiling....and maybe some sound proofing earlier....that could get difficult.....am I wrong or do I just worry too much?
Thanks
Tom
Higher would be better, but impossible, no, IMHO.
Why do you worry about parallelism? Standing waves?
Yes
That's what I was thinking about
You really don't avoid standing waves in a room, whatever you do.
I would worry about keeping as much height as possible in your case.
