Hi! I'm planning to make a approx. 70m3 one-room studio (that's suggested min. size isn't it?), with 100% absorption in the ceiling. But, then: Is height above the false ceiling counting in room volume? In what way? What should be my guidelines for planning my dimensions for such a design? BTW: My roof will possibly be triangle-shaped with a ridge-beam or similar in centre.
If the ceiling is acoustically transparant, like Rockfon, it counts. And if you place mineral wol in the void between false and real ceiling, (often 30 - 40 cm) you are creating a nice bass trap. The sound can enter the wool and will be absorped. If the ceiling is hard the sound will be reflected and the ceiling is the boundary for sound.
Thanks!

Yes, something like Rockfon Monolithic Ceilings (3-5cm), and 30-40cm in the corners maybe. So, the roof hight counts as normal in this design for calculating room volume?
yes, sound travels slower in mineral wool than in air, so your room even seems a bit larger to a soundwave. :D
