Hello,
I'm starting a studio build in a wharehouse that has a roof which consists in one of those ondulated metal planks (dont know if its the correct term in english)
The dimensions are roughly 21x52 feet.
What worries me is that I cant use the roof for support for the ceiling in the rooms.
How should I proceed? Put some wood or metal bars from wall to wall where I can then support the isolation ceiling?
The Portuguese studio designer I talked with said that I should build a concrete ceiling on the wharehouse. But that would be terribly expensive and would have to get a permit due to modification on the design and here in Portugal it could take ages...
Thanks in advance.

Question about ceiling for a Studio in a wharehouse

Hi Ricardo, and welcome! :)
I think you are referring to "corrugated iron" roofing. In addition to not being usable to hang your inner-leaf ceiling, it will also not provide much isolation.
Probably not. But we actually can't say, since you didn't tell us what you are trying to do! Unless you explain clearly your goals, then we'd just be guessing if we told you what to do. Each studio has to be designed specifically to meet the goals of the owner. So please start by explaining what the studio is for, how big it is, what your plans are for it, what type of music you will be recording / playing in there, and most important of all, how much isolation you need, in decibels. Photos and a diagram would also help us to understand your place better. - Stuart -How should I proceed? Put some wood or metal bars from wall to wall where I can then support the isolation ceiling?
You missed the actual measurement that pertains to what it is you may or may not be able to do and that would be the height.
The wall to wall suggest one thing but the height will tell those trying to assist if you can construct an interior room with it's own ceiling not attached to the existing truss system which is certainly not capable of having more load placed on it.
Another item missed is what are the existing walls of the structure made of, windows, doors, etc.
