Hello,
I have recently started renting an office space that i want to turn into a studio.
I have never done anything like this before but i have done as much research as i can over the last few weeks.
I am looking for some advice on the most efficient and cost effective way of sound proofing this space.
I have attached the room plans and also the room dimensions as a jpg.

The Stud walls are hollow with really thin board on either side so they need alot of work.
There is quite alot of outside noise to keep out.
There are three rooms.
SP1 is where im planning on having the control room.
SP2 is going to be a vocal/instrument booth
BJR is mostly going to be used for jamming and practice but it would be great to turn this in to a live room aswell.
All the ceilings are suspended panel ceilings with a large gap before a corrugated metal roof (i think.)
I have been thinking of doing all the walls and ceilings (except the BJR) with rockwall then using reiliant bars to attatch Gyproc soundbloc on the outside.
What do you think? all ideas much appriciated.

ok well ur best option is to do a room within a room construction. basically its 2 walls with an 1'' air between then do double 5/8s drywall with greenglue sandwiched between sheets. make sure to acousitic seal every nook n cranny ex. drywall joints, top and bottom plate. your going to have to get rid of the suspened ceiling cuz that does nothing for soundproofing, you need mass. then electrical and hvac are whole other ball game. u need an air in and air out. with a room air tight room u need fresh air in and out else simply u could die lol research dead vent thats the best option for this. doors are another thing to, ull need to a double door system and add mass to each door and seal properly. or if your budget is big get a studio door which runs thousands lol this is just general info but if u need help msg me. hope this gets u in the right direction.
Hi
How did you deal with your ceiling? I have a similar problem.
Hi there Duncan. Please read the forum rules for posting (click here). You seem to be missing a couple of things! :) That's probably why you are not getting any detailed replies...
