Hi,
I am looking for a house to set up my studio in. Its mostly mixing / mastering oriented. I have pro gear, including a console, which is about 6.5 feet long. I use near / mid field speakers generally, Dynaudio, Genelec, JBL.
I have located a nice older house that has a great room that is about 21' x 18'. The floor is currently terazzo throughout the house, but that is subject to change as necessary.
The ceiling height is reportedly 9', and there are wooden beams every couple of feet or so across the ceiling, throughout the house, extending down from the ceiling about 1' or so.
I'm wondering if the wooden beams would pose any significant problem acoustically. What do you guys think? In the great room, which is where I would set up the gear, the beams are going in the 18' direction, and not the 21' direction.
The house in question is an older house, built in the 1960's. It is kind of a "high-end" property, in a fairly affluent community, so the construction is good. Aside from the issue with the beams, the only other thing that comes to mind as a possible issue would be the electrical power, since the house is not brand new. Is there anything to "look out for" in that regard?
Thanks in advance for any help with this.
What about ceiling beams?
