The background street noise is just over 50 db. If a spike over 70 now and again gets through, I can live with that. But I need to mitigate the constant street noise. I think STC of 50 to 55 would suit my needs.
I plan to mount on resilient channels directly against the roof studs. I would insulate, of course, with batt fiberglass. I could go with two layers of 5/8" drywall with green glue between. Do you think that would get me up to the 50 to 55 STC? Or should I go with three layers? If so, I'll need info on how to do that.
Here's my 2nd design. How does this one look? I do not need to see the musicians from the control room. I had a window in my last studio and ended up putting curtains on it. Never needed to see.

The rear end of your control room get narrower: that should not happen. The control room should get wider towards the back, or worst case, the walls should stay parallel, but it should not get narrower.
Also, the rear wall of the control room is concave shaped: it is "V" shaped, with two angle walls. That should either be inverted to convex, or better still just left flat
Another thing; you have the control room directly coupled to the live room: you won't get much isolation between them like that. The two walls that bypass the pillar between the rooms are attached to each other in two places: you need to break those connections, such that the control room wall does not touch the live room wall at all.
