Hello,
I've been looking for spaces where I could build a project studio.
The best relation space/cost and proximity is a 130 square meter but that has the disavantage of having only 2,85m height.
It is in a residential building but the level above is a car garage and only after that it has people living.
Do you guys think the height is too low for drum recording?
What aditional height will I have to loose in order to soundproof this so that I dont have problems with the neighbours?
Thank you som much for your help.
Best regards
Ricardo

depends on your desired results - if you're looking for a project studio to hammer out ideas, then it may be fine. if you need to complete professional mix down, you could probably also make it work. if you're doing live recordings and need really stellar sound from the rooms, then the 2.85m is too low. assuming you need isolation from the car park and potentially neighbors, you should assume the floor and ceiling treatments will reduce your clearance by 200mm-300mm depending on what you need to do to the space and what options you have to interleaving the ceiling supports with the existing ceiling and what type of flooring you need - likely in the drum case some isolation platform.
