Hello, I'm currently trying to design my AC setup for my basement studio conversion. The room is 10.5' x 11.5' foot and only about 6'11" in height I have a Fujitsu AC unit that is really quiet that I plan to attach to the 3 layers of drywall that are attached to the studwork. I then plan to build an MDF box around the AC unit and pump(for removing condesation up to the ground floor). I'll be lining this MDF box with barafoam/duct liner acoustic foam to reduce any noise. What I'm unsure of is how to get my fresh air supply in without compromising the sound isolation I've achieved with all my drywall? 7.8" behind the drywall is the external brick wall. I'm planning on core drilling through this and putting an acoustic vent in the wall, this kind of thing http://www.soundservice.co.uk/acoustic_vents.html I was planning on put some flexi ducting off the back of this and then making a baffle (I've seen some of the designs on this forum) to sit on the back side of the drywall partition. I was then going to cut a hole through the drywall near the intake of the ac unit so that fresh air got into the room. If I use acoustic sealant on all joins between the ducting, MDF baffle and interior drywall is this going to be best way to limit sound transfer to the outside? Do I need an outlet as well as this inlet or will the inlet plus the AC be adequate? I also need to put another hole through the external brick wall for the coolant pipes and electricity feed for the external unit of my AC, any tips as to what to fill this tube with once the pipes are in to prevent sound leakage through the external wall? Thanks for any help you can give Chris
