Glass Window or LCD Tv With Camera

Hello This is my first post please excuse if its not the right thread... i would like to know is it ok to put a glass window between the control room and recording room, while the recording room is just in front of control room, i heard few people advising me that i should not put a glass window as it causes problems in stereo imaging while mixing and recording they say i should put a camera and a lcd tv to see my talent in the recording room. room dimensions 16ft Long 13ft Wide 10ft Height Please advice Thanks

Glass is an excellent option, provided that it is done correctly. Most professional studios have glass between the control room and live room: It is very common, and very effective.

No it does not cause problems with stereo imaging if the room is designed and built correctly. Whoever told you that doesn't know what they are talking about.

You CAN use a CCTV system like that, if you want, and some places do, but normally that is only done where the control room and live room are not physically connected, or where there are structural issues with the building itself that would prevent you installing glass (for example, a concrete pillar right where the window should be). Take a look around the forum at some of the rooms that have been designed and built successfully, and you'll see that glass windows at the front of the room are VERY common. It is possible to do that, provided that it is done correctly. - Stuart -

Thanks for the reply Soundman2020, any expert advice regarding how to go about putting a glass window any tips. the guy who told me this works for A.R Rehman and his studio was designed by some people from genelec... and xspace this in no spam...
