hello all-
i've put together a proposed floorplan for the conversion of the attic of my house with smartdraw. i tried to base it on the ideal ratios found in the everest book. (1:1.5:2.1) initially i envisioned the live room being a lot bigger, but i figured an average ceiling height of 8.5' (varies from 5ft to 12 ft) - which actually drops to about 7.5' in the control room area. it's a bit tricky as the ceiling and walls aren't flat or even (due to the attic). ideally, id love to figure out a solution to marry the live and dead rooms so that it could be one huge space for rehersals without headphones, but then have the ablility to separate for recording.
at any rate, i've spent some time to come up with what i think is a reasonably sound idea - i'd love your input if you could take a spare minute of your day.
best,
nick
please review my initial floorplan

hey john-
thanks so much for the reply, i really appreciate it! i like your ideas, now i've got to take another detailed look at how everything really lays out in real life. i'm a bit concerned that the control room won't be big enough as is (i have an analog setup, so imagine 2 tape machines, console/rack gear going in there still), when i have some more time free i'm going to outline your floor plan on the florr with sting to get a better snse of what's going on. i'll keep you posted.
thanks again!

You could always soffit the machines into the wall between the control room and the bedroom.
