Okay, so I started down this road a year or two before I found this forum. Along the way I made a few mistakes, some recoverable, some not quite as much. One mistake I made was not starting a build thread, so I am going to do my best to consolidate things. Hopefully, this will help . I don't know a better way to consolidate these posts, so I'm just going to do the best that I can. This is my first post viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6866 It explains what I am trying to do and a question about OSB vs gypsum for the first layer. This is a later post where I had an issue about insulation not coming in contact with the first layer (fixed, by the way). It also has drawings of the layout and wall structure. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6971 Here's a repost of the wall detail. I ll get an updated floor plan posted soon.

Again, yes, I know about the floating floor issues, etc. It was already done by the time I found this forum. So far it hasn't seemed to be a problem, though. We'll see when I get a drum kit or string bass in here. However, I also needed the space under the floor to run conduit, so at least that part worked out well. Another post about an insulation question. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13712 More to come with more questions, pictures and diagrams. Thanks to all that have answered questions. This place may become functional in this lifetime. Scott
It's almost building season again! I've done searches because I thought that I had seen this idea presented before, but I can't find it. Here's the idea: The walls are built and I'm ready to begin running ductwork for the A/C. I plan to run intake and exhaust inside furdowns, next to the ceiling on opposing walls. I was wondering if I could build the furdowns, using a wood or metal frame and ductboard - possibly even using flex duct inside the ductboard if I needed to (to get air velocity correct). That way, the ductwork would also serve as a bass trap. Any thoughts? Scott
No one wants to take a shot at this? :?
