Hi to all!
Recently bought a small house and one of the rooms will be my little studio.
The room is pretty small, but I have to do the best of the situation.
For now stereo but in the future I plan to use 5.1
Eager to start building. But as Andre mentions "Planning 90% Construction 10%"
The budget is roughly 2000-5000 US dollars for building material. Depending on suggestions from you.
My starting point would be the component studio design in the 3d post by John, with some modifications.
Tried to add a sketchup file. Too big! Its pretty bad. But hope you get what I want to do.
Jpg attached instead
First of english is not my main language. So I might use the wrong words in my description.
Please correct me if you feel like it.
Dimensions L 3.20m W 3.10m Height 2.02m
The length is actually more at the end of the room is a a sloping cealing. Where the slope starts there is a curtain and behind is wardrobe filled with clothes. I know thats not an ideal situation, but for now not much I can do about it.
My hope is that the wardrobe will act as some sort of diffusor.
Monitors used Genelec 8030
The front wall:
Between the speaker construction there will be almost the same as the slot construction at the top (see Sonolink Studio Project)
The side walls:
Due to the room construction Im a bit limited.
On the left side there a window aproximately 1m from the front wall.
On the right side theres a small compartement 50cmx50cm and 40 cm deep. Good for storing cables and whatever. But if its suggested it could be shut. In the attached file it is shut.
Further down the right side theres a "chimney wall". Starts about 1 meter from the wall. Its about. 1.20 meters wide.
And then theres a door. The only entrance to the room.
Ceiling:
Hang three panels. Height 1.20m Width 60 cm Thickness 5cm. Insultation in a frame covered by a perforated board.
Should these slope?
This is my initial ideas. Thoughts and ideas are more than welcome.
Yours Sincerly
Mattias
ps. Im only considering accoustic treatment, no sound proofing ds.

Would be great to know more about the insultion specs on different components.
If theres something missing in my initial post, please let me know

In general the design looks pretty good.
You will probably want to add some absorption on the rear wall, and possible the front between the speakers -although this might also be good for slats (front only). Not quite sure if that's a window you're covering on the left side, but you might want to address that a bit differently. Add some superchunk absorbers in the rear corners, and fill the front corners or use the entire free space for hangers.
The 12° angle of the splayed slat walls left and right can be reduced given the room size. This angle only need be minimum 6° each for opposing walls. (12° for single surfaces)
Also consider an angled hardback cloud above you and your desk 12° with the lower part at the front.
The sofa looks a bit large for the room!
Thanks for the reply
I have to think of a solution for the rear "wall"
As I wrote in the first post it isnt really a wall their. Its a curtain, behind it a wardrobe with sloping cealing.
The wardrobe is filled with clothes.
I will look in to that after the front, side walls and ceailing.
The front between the speakers will be insulation and boards (same construction as the splayed slat walls.
Ive been looking for something like this (see attached picture) in combination with the the previous attachement for the speaker corner.
Behind the window and on the the door a can put an absorber.
Yes in the ceiling a planned to build a cloud. Or actually three 60cm x 120cm.
Would be made of a frame, insulation and perforated board (masonite)
What do you think of these adjustments?

ps. Im sorry but I must adnmit that I havent looked att the dimensions on the sofa. They are probably not correct. It is not that big. Just put it there for you to get an idea of what I wanted to accomplish. ds
