Hi everybody I've been reading and loving this board for a while and finally have a chance to build out a room to my own specs. After reading as much as I could, I've started planning a layout/design and would love input. I'm looking at a space that is an L shape where I'm hoping to put in a reasonably sized tracking room and control room. One rooms maximum dimensions would be L=136", W=132" (tracking room), H=102" and the other L=187", W=140", H=102" (control room). The almost square room will need to be cut up in some way to fix the ratio problem and I'm trying to decide on a good way to do it. The jpg and skp files I uploaded should hopefully explain the orientation of the rooms. What are some thoughts on the design and layout? I have to do a test to see what kind of STC I really need for the walls, floor and ceiling but I figure it needs to be pretty high since I plan on tracking and practicing drums often. Right now I'm thinking either double or triple sheetrock on all walls and ceiling (ceiling and walls with Kinetics isomax) and wood floors using a riser for when I track drums. I'm not sure if I should angle the ceiling or just put up some angled clouds. I don't think I have enough money to float the floor correctly so don't want to waste money in that area but was thinking about using the Kinetics RIM system (http://www.kineticsnoise.com/arch/rim/wood.aspx). I don't know anyone with experience with it so if you know anything about it please let me know! :D My overall budget runs about 10,000USD though of course both my wife and I would love to spend less! :D The initial example is in SketchUp, and forgive it's roughness since I just started using it. Thanks

Hi anybody out there? :D I wanted to add the info on some gear going in... I'm putting in an 02R96 a pair of Avid Artist series control surface, surround pair of JBL LSR4326 with sub and a video monitor for editing. There will also be a rolling rack with pre's, and other some other stuff that may need to travel occasionally so it won't be tied down. There will be a computer/network closet outside on this space elsewhere with KVM's and drive arrays but that will happen separately once the design is done. I'll just dropping a small access path through the bottom right corner (according to the jpg) which will exit the control room into a storage closet so iso issues shouldn't be bad. Thanks again for any help!
Just don't want you to feel like you are being left out to dry, but I don't know. My first thought was to just make it one room with the control room facing left. It is too bad that you couldn't create a moveable wall. Have a wall that rolls behind the mix position while tracking for some isolation, then swing it around while mixing.
