okay I buying a home soon and looking to setup a basement recording/photography/video production/grapic design studio for my label
1.the basement has to be finished on request of my wife
2.the basement will likely have a fourth bedroom, large rec room area and 3/4 bathroom if not full bathroom(rather have the full lol)
okay
rec room area uses (acoustic treatment mostly gik products, some aurelex foam)
1.home theatre
2.tracking vocals
3.photography shoots
4.video shoots of my artists and I for the website/youtube,etc..
5.food/computer lounging area
6.house the e-drums
7.any outside equipment from a outside producer/player
fourth bedroom control room (acoustic treatment gik acoustics products)
1. house tascam DM-4800 mixer
2.soufit mount speakers large
3.near field speakers on stands
4.probably track vocals in here too I have something like this for isolation
http://www.gikacoustics.com/gik_screen_panel.html exactly like shown in the pic on the right
5.the closet in the room will house noisy computer etc...
6. four channels outboard preamps(for color lol)
the control room in the fourth bedroom something similar to this
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=16399&hilit=basement
okay the things I would like to do in sections
1.each wall at a time and ceiling
2.switch out doors to fire doors w/seals
3.switch out windows to double panel building a thick 8" box of rockwool panel to cover the windows when making music
probably most leakage to the outside/neighbors that the reason to add the diy wood box covered fabric stuffed with rockwool inside
4.seal all gaps
since I'm not doing loud drums most of my "noise" will be from tracking, mixing and making instrumentals
my main goal is to lower noise from going upstairs to my family if I want to make instrumentals at night...most of the tracking will be during the day on weekend/day off of reg. job
and of course lower noise from going to the neighbors...
since the basement will be finished I think all I have to do for bring down the "noise" is
1.demo each wall at a time
demo the drywall(framing and electrical should be done already behind that drywall)
2.fill the existing framing with rockwool
3.add 3/4" thick drywall the green glue then another 3/4" drywall
is this a misception on my end
budget construction is it possible one wall at a time

looking to do the control room/fourth room first then move on to soundprooffing the rec room area
no help???????????????????
thanks in advance
Indeed it is a misconception. You cannot construct one wall at a time...and I might add...why would you attempt this?
So my next consideration is this. If you do not supply more information than you currently are and make this look more like a "build" request and LESS like a gik search engine link campaign (like no one here @ an acoustics forum has no idea of who they might be), I will have no alternative but to modify your posts. Essentially I will remove the gik links...
No Gik campaign..
I working on my business plan and thinking if I can do some things like build one wall at a time ONCE I buy my house....
starting recording and have something more than a website and a business plan to approach a investor with...I'm not handy at all that's with I'm going with GIK acoustic stuff.....
and I'm having my uncle to most of the building so I should have just asked him.. but I'll have to budget do something like I posted do you think just to do fourth bedroom do you think $5,000 for cost of insulation and wood etc.. would be enougn and another question if a basement is finished won't the electric and framing all ready be there.. and I'll have to do after demo'ing all the drywall off is stuff the framing all ready there will insulation .....I just need to isolation the fourth bedroom from the rec room area and the rec room area not leak into the fourth bedrom(control room) where I'll be doing the recording of vocals..
most of the duties of the studio will be
1.vocal
2.instrumental production
3.mixing
4. loudness mastering just adding a limiter and multi-band compression and tweaking not true mastering just enough to sound good and loud for live shows...
Holy Lamb Media and Entertainment
thanks for replying.. hopefully this coming march I'll be in my home and come back with some measurements...I'm going to need someone to help my with Google sketch up design.. I'll too busy getting business together to approach a investor by spring thanks again friend any info you can give ....
Well, you CAN build one wall at a time, but it will be really hard to keep some of the walls from falling over until the others are in place! They support each other. Also, you will have zero isolation until all six sides of the room are in place, so it will be frustrating for a long time to have a lot of completed work around you with no noticeable benefit. It might just be better to save your money then do it all at once, when you have enough saved.thinking if I can do some things like build one wall at a time
So what's wrong with the Real Traps stuff, the Auralex stuff, the Primacoustic stuff, the Clearsonic stuff, the .... Got nothing against the guys at GIK, but there certainly aren't the only game in town!I'm not handy at all that's with I'm going with GIK acoustic stuff.....
Well, if you are not handy but your uncle is, then why not get him to build the treatment? If he is skilled enough to build the room correctly, then he is certainly skilled enough to build the treatment! You can save a lot of money by building the treatment yourself (or rather, getting him to build it for you). - Stuart -I'm not handy at all that's with I'm going with GIK acoustic stuff..... and I'm having my uncle to most of the building
