Hello...I have been browsing the forum for a couple weeks now and there is a ton of information here to go through. I figured the first thing I should start with is sharing the space I intend to use and get some design ideas as this is my first studio and I have no idea what to do.
I am an electronic music artist and all my production is done on a computer workstation so my primary concerns are reducing noise to the house so my wife can exist without hearing my beats over and over and I also have neighbors about 25' from the garage. The studio space I am looking for would be modern and comfortable.
I have a budget of $4000.
The garage is 2005 construction, drywalled completely inside with an unfinished concrete floor.
I plan on removing the garage door and putting in double doors or maybe a sliding door.
It will need some electrical work as there are limited outlets and lighting.
I want to retain a small utility/storage area.
The attached graphic file depicts the basic existing layout except for the dog-legged wall I sketched in to quickly mock up the proposed storage area but that space can change if needed. I would think a door into the utility area from the studio would be nice as well.
I'm really looking for some layout ideas for the room...shape, placement of desk, speakers and acoustic treatment. Also any concerns I should be aware of as I take this to a more formal design process and then on to construction.
I have considered hiring a professional to come and do the design and construction but I think that would greatly increase the cost so I may limit it to me and some contractors for various things.
