I have some OC 703 panels: 2' x 4' x 4" depth. What is the lowest freq. they will absorb if there is a 9" air gap between the panels and the wall?
effectively? they will add some absorption down to 60hz or so. how much of the sound they will actual absorb then becomes a function of the amount and placement.
Another question on my corner traps. Also OC 703-2' wide going floor to ceiling. (Six inch depth of OC 703) Should I space them away from the corners or keep them tight against the walls?
straddle the corners with the rigid insulation so its approx 34" across and fill back with lighter insulation.
Sounds good Glenn; Even before I downloaded Mode Calc, I was aware of the problem frequencies simply from playing bass lines when I'm tracking. I have some bad peaks in the 123Hz to 160Hz range which is a critical area. Expecting delivery on the sub this week, so I have my work cut out for me. Do you think a Helmholtz that is tuned to this specific range might be one way to attenuate this freq. area?
it think slats can readily handle this range but is the 123-160hz the actual issue or is it the 62-80hz and the higher frequency are the second order modes? and if it is the former, the sub will only aggravate it...

Waste of precious space to space them 9" from the wall. I'd double the wool depth instead. Else if you use 4" deep wool, space it 4" from the wall.
