Hi All,
I've remodeled my basement studio to include an isolated booth (double wall construction) and finally a symmetrical control room which I'd like to eventually treat and tune to be a great 5.1/stereo mixing space.
I'm planning on putting the floors in tomorrow (Kahrs engineered floating floor). Basement is below grade and on cement slab.
I don't see a reason to try anything fancy with floating or with adding a ton of mass underneath the flooring of the mix room (I figure that I have plenty of other places between booth and control room that will leak first), although, if it's advised, I could put down neoprene padding and MDF in the booth before laying the floor.
So, first off - is the above decision one that I might regret later?
Secondly, pros and cons of using the thin airguard underlayment (with all the little white beads) vs just putting down a good layer of vapor lock or slopping down a layer of sealant on the cement before the flooring?
I don't plan to glue or nail the floor at all, just cut to size (with space around the perimeter of course) and snap into place.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ryan

if you don't have a moisture problem the underlayment should be fine. i've used this with success. http://silentbluepad.com/
