Hi
I'm Kim, 28 years old from Norway.
I just found this site and is overwhelmed by all the information :)
But after a couple of days of intense reading and learning, I finally feel like my plan
is starting to get a little clearer.
I found out after meeting you guys that my original plan was flawed :)
Maybe not logically, but acoustically haha. If that makes any sense.
So my starting point was a green lawn, I will post some pictures later.
I have been doing some work and I will soon be ready to order a truckload of concrete.
The dimensions of the concrete floor will be:
10.20m x 5.20m x 0.15m
The height of the studio will be 2.70m.
So it will be a 53m2 building with a studio downstairs and a storage upstairs.
The studio will contain a Control room(app. 3mX5m) and a Live/Rehearsal room(app. 7mX5m)
The dimensions will change as the walls creep in on me during construction.
I have not yet decided how many layers i will use :)
It will be a 2 leaf, room-in-room design. with a inner frame (2"x4") and outer frame (2"x4")
So it's going to be a rehearsel room for the 5-piece metal band i'm in,
so I want it to be as "soundproof" as I can get it with my budget, knowledge and construction skills.
we want to have the opportunity to play whenever we like, day or night.
I need all the tips and tricks I can get from you guys
The budget: 30.000USD maybe a little more
Wish me luck :) I'm really excited, looking forward to start building and using all the tips I have picked up here.
Here are som slightly off topic photos, but its all i got for now.
In about a week there will be a concrete floor.
Uploaded a simple sketch up drawing, for me electricity, getting xlr-cables from CR to LR and ventilation will be the biggest challenges.
On the drawing you can see 2 seperate tubes going into CR and LR, this will be the electricity cables going into the house.
Is this a good solution?

Kim, the problem with your approach is this. Your approach is "it is better to ask for forgiveness than permission."
You are doing things or will be doing things and then asking why either it isn't working or why people are getting up your skirt about why you did such a thing, since it (whatever it might be) is clearly a dis advantage.
So going slow and getting a design is far better than giving pictures of something that is flawed....we have a lot of those around here, from well intention persons who thought that "got it" after a couple days.
I still walk slowly even after how ever many years I have been here, with my background in building.
Just a simple caution,
Good luck,
Hi
I'm sorry, it was not my intention to come in here and give the impression that I had read and learned enough in a couple of days to start or complete a studio build on my own :)
I might have been a little vague in my introduction.
I find it hard to explain and express myself naturally in English, but I will try to simplify things.
Right now, I'm about to take the first step.
Nothing is built yet not even the concrete floor and I assure you I will consult you before I start building anything.
I will also start a thread in the Design section and let you see what I have planned so far.
Have a nice weekend
