Hello people,
I have spent the last two weeks reading reference guides on room acoustics as I feel there's nothing worse than someone who can't be bothered to do the research but still wants all the answers. Also, I like learning.
I have a smallish room (pictures below),
3.81m Long
2.92m Wide
4.5m sloped to 3.27m High
It has no acoustic treatment, windows covering the whole of one end but the benefits of having a sloping, wooden ceiling. I have drawn up some designs on sketch up, which involve bass traps in every corner (the more the merrier eh?) with treatment in the area of the early reflections (I couldn’t work out how to put the one’s on the ceiling in sketch up but they will be there!). The speaker positioning is obviously too close to the windows at the mo but it’s just so I know which end they are going (initially they were placed across the shortest parallel walls?!?).
The treatment behind the speakers will be retractable so you can open the windows. I can’t see the glass being a massive problem as it should let a lot of the lower frequencies pass but reflect the mid to high’s (hence some treatment directly behind)
From what I have learn't, theoretically, what I have seems like the most suiting design for the materials I have at hand.
I have an abundance of rocksilk, bought as an equivalent to 703, 1200 x 600 x 100mm, which will be good for the bass traps but I wonder if using thinner 50mm sheets might be better for the early reflections?
I would generally just appreciate some feedback on my design, as this will be the first time I have attempted something like this.
I would be more than happy to post pictures of the building process as it progresses, with some before and after audio samples when complete.
A general big big thank you also goes out to everyone that has helped create this hub of information and I hope I have respected your effort by doing as much research as possible before posting…
Sam.

welcome! please update your profile to include your location. overall it looks like a good plan. consider hanging some angled clouds down from the ceiling - several feet if possible to take advantage of the room height to provide trapping.
