Could I use this material to make the acoustic hangers?

Hi! I cannot find HOMASOTE in Spain, but I have found this material: http://www.kronospan.es/ima/catalogo/izoboard.pdf It seem to be made by paper, but its has 260 kg/m3 density. Its 5 to 7 mm thick. Should I use two tiles of that material with rockwool to make hangers? Or 10 mm MDF is a better way to go? Regards.
Hi Those panels seems to be fibreboard laminate flooring underlay and that seems to be the same question I had on my thread, so I just repeat what Glenn kindly replied to me hoping that it will help you too. He suggested cellulose board or alternatively to use 3mm lightweight plywood sheets for the core of your hangers. I suspect that 10mm MDF would be too heavy for that purpose as - if I understand it correctly - they need to be light enough to move in sympathy with the sound waves hitting them in order to attenuate them (I believe by converting sound energy into heat (?)) (hope one of the expert will correct my post if I'm wrong!) Hope that helps Good luck Ciao Simo
Why don't you just get pieces of very thin MDF / plywood? I'm sure there is a seller in your town for that too! I won't say that won't work, but I for sure would be more comfortable going with something someone who knows (in this case Glenn) has suggested :) I checked the datasheet and the material you are suggesting seems to be around 150kg/m3, and I believe that is... quite heavy for the hangers.
That looks about right to me (again I'm not exert!) :) …. the only thing I would point out is its thickness of just 40mm. Looking at John's hangers the specs are for a 12mm homasote core (or similar soft fibreboard, like the one you found) so I don't know whether the 40mm Hofatex Therm is too thin or not (will make the hangers too light perhaps) ? Let's see what they've got to say !

How thick the MDF or Plywood board must be if I use that material? How dense should the core be?

the man said 3mm for the plywood
OK, thanks! Plywood is easier to find here than HOMASOTE.
