First, thanks to all who contribute to the wealth of knowledge on this forum.
My situation: I'm currently planning a renovation for an existing facility starting with control room.
CR size is 14' 6" Wide x 18' Long x 10' 6" Tall. These dimensions reflect the planned orientation (currently, the console is on one of the 18' walls so it's a "wide" room whereas it will be a "long" room).
CR has maybe 180 S.F. of 2" auralux studio foam wedges on walls/ceiling with 32 S.F of auralux T'fusor diffusers on the back Wall. Also, there is maybe 6' of corner foam (Lenrd Bass Traps) in each rear corner.
The plan is to pretty much gut the room, and re-treat. It's a decent enough place that I don't want to remove the drywall but I'm planning on laying down new laminate/carpet. My treatment ideas are simple with understanding that I may need to add as I go along:
False front wall with hangers/rigid insulation, possible soffit mounted speakers.
Absorbers for Walls. 4" Traps for Wall/Ceiling, and Trihedral corners.
There is a 4'x6' window on the left of the listening position with a curved panel on the opposite wall for symmetry. Below the window will be a multibay rack (only 2' tall).
The floor will be laminate/carpet with plans to create a wiring trough below in front of the console.
Back wall door leads out to a common area and corner door leads to live room.
My main question deals with the front wall. The center section could be a curved (or flat) panel absorber, or a Helmholtz slat resonator, or perhaps something else??? I just don't know what would be the smartest idea. I've purposefully left areas of improvement as a "wait and hear" after the initial renovation.
I bought and read most the Rod Gervais book and have been book-marking posts like mad in preparation. I'm confidant in my abilities as a carpenter and can call on help if/when I need it. Budget is roughly $1700 US.
Also, sorry for the rough picture...phone pic of a pencil sketch. It's my 2nd revision of a floor plan and I rather like it, but I'm open to outside opinions/concerns.
Thanks again!

welcome! so you're going to turn to point down the long way of the room? ok. skip the carpet. laminate is fine. on the soffits - if you're not angling the side treatments - you should (based on the drawing) widen the space between the speakers a bit more so the focus is about 18-24" behind you. this will widen the sweet spot - but make sure the distance is something your speakers can accommodate - in general - 5"-6" LF driver - around 5'-6', 8"-10" - about 6'-7', 12"-15" about 8'-10' are good rough estimates to start with. you could build angled slat treatments on both sides of the desk - obviously for the window you would make it top and bottom and for mix down, a very heavy drape to cover the window. the curved treatment would be OK on the back wall but not necessarily good on the side wall.
Hi Glenn, thanks!
Yes, desk will be facing as shown. I'll probably not soffit-mount the speakers because of the distance an ditch the curved 4'x6' section too. The angled slats idea sounds good but should I maintain symmetry? I've done a sketchup below; obviously, I can put slats over the rack/bench and above the window on that wall but I'd worry about overloading the opposite wall.
I'm also unclear about the middle section in front of the desk...the pencil sketch is curved (panel) and the sketchup shows it flat (4" absorber?) I don't have strong feelings either way...just fishing for ideas. Not shown in the sketchup is the bass absorbers for the walls, wall/ceiling, and wall/wall/ceiling corners.
Thanks for taking time. I really appreciate it.

regardless of your choices you'll want symmetry. maybe just go with cloth covered absorbers and have one on the window you can move into place as needed (suspended on a drape rod for example). and start thinking about the ceiling treatments and any HVAC planning...
I've ran into an unseen issue. In the projected mix position, the ceiling is sloped from left to right. My dimensions become 14' 6"W x 18' L x 9' 8" (left side height) and 10' 7" (right side height).
At this point I don't want to give up, so I'm shooting for the best I can do.
I've redrawn my wall heights in sketchup and started planning accordingly. The attached image is the view from above the rear wall. The angular wall will be a false front with hangers behind; 24" tall floor racks on left and right of the listening position. Above the racks will be slatted helmholtz resonators. The wireframe represents a rough idea of size and what they'll look like. Considering the height difference between Left and Right walls, should the opposing resonators hold the same volume OR would matching the depths from wall and overall widths create identical frequency absorption? I've got the HELMHOLZ_JS_Metric and Imperial spreadsheet but unless I'm missing it, there's nothing about how overall height/width is a factor.
I'm keen on adding a cloud to help with the sloped ceiling but honestly, I don't know how to attack it.
On the ceiling, use hard backed clouds to create the symmetry over the mix position and absorption on the ceiling itself. The slats should be broadband and you can just make them 8' high or all the way up. If you make them 8' then plan on adding super chunk absorption above them on the wall ceiling corner.
