I started a music school in my apartment with my wife in January of 2009. Now we are 8 teachers deep and getting ready to pour a concrete floor for our first professional recording studio! What a trip. I have a design questions before we move forward with the concrete. We want to run electrical and audio through pvc before we pour the floor. We thought about using floor outlets and floor xlr plates to avoid putting holes in the sheet rock. Which is preferable for isolation: 1.) Use a 4" joint and fill it with rockwool and use floor outlets 2.) Run the slabs with a 1" joint and wire the studio through the walls Does anyone have experience with floor outlets and/or XLR plates? I'm worried they will be tripping hazards to be honest :) design attached...Thanks!

floor based fixtures usually end up with dirt, drinks, and feet (damaged). put the outlets and plates on the walls. have you consider running the wiring ducts overhead? use the wider gaps between the slabs.
I'm not sure that new AC floor outlets are even allowed.
