I have been granted access to 1/3 of the basement for a studio. The dimensions are 10 ft wide, 19 feet long, and 7.5 feet tall. Cement slab, exposed joists (bottom of joists is 7.5 feet). I need a performance area (vocals, amps, no drums needed) and a **(very important) mixing/producing area. My issues are: 1: Design: I am lost, but i like the design of Johns "small studio" in skechup 2: Soundproofing: I have 2 daughters. They sleep, and i am creative around 2 am obviously. I have looked at the different walls and prefer the msm walls, but will i sacrifice to much ft2? Tile will be put on the floor, as i have read about hard floor soft cieling, but what about sealing the doors? 3: Mixing: Bass heavy music and small rooms are problems. Do i have room for a decent trap? 4: HVAC wtf help me god...... 5: Budget: $2000 I would like to soffit mount my jbl lsr's, like kendale did Here is a pic of the room layout now Thanks in advance

welcome! would it be possible to post a simple drawing which includes measurements of where things are actually located? the gas meter - depth, height and position from the bottom wall. the post position on the floor, same for the water heater. any option to move the water heater to somewhere next to the water meter? are there any windows etc? ducts? pipes? beams? one challenge will be the low ceiling height and trying to get decent isolation. you might consider going with isolation clips and hat channel for 3x 16mm drywall layers, plus 3x 16mm drywall between the floor joists to add mass there. you would want to check if the structure can support that weight.
