Hello everyone, this is my first post, how are you all? I have being recommended here by everyone as this seems to be where the knowledge is at. I'm planning on building a vocal booth for my apartment. The thing is, sound quality doesn't really matter. I have had neighbours complain about my singing, and I practice a lot! I can't find anywhere suitable to rent to practice, so here I am building a practice booth. The main problem is the neighbours underneath my floor. I don't sing opera or anything, so the booth doesn't need to be 100% soundproof, but the more the better. I am completely new to this type of thing so I would really appreciate any words of advice. I am thinking of getting two layers of ply for the floor, walls and ceiling. (not sure if it's best to leave air between the ply, or add some material?) Then on the inside of the booth coat it with another material (maybe MLV?), and then put some reflective foam ontop of that. I was thinking of making a seperate box with rubber feet that the booth sits on, then sit that box on a thick mat. I am also thinking of lifting up the carpets and sticking some sort of soundproof underlay down. I am not sure if I will need a vent, and how to go about doing making one. And also I'm not sure about the door, should I use two doors maybe? Also, I would like to use some thick mdf instead but the apartment floor woudn't take it I don't think, so it will have to be relativley light. I would also like some way of dismantlng it, if possible, for when I move apartment. I really don't know what would be best, so if anybody could point me in the right direction I would be most thankful! Thanks, Danyil.
