Looking at turning a small space in my condo into a usable recording studio without buggin' my bitchy neighbours.. I live on the ground floor with a small crawl space.. want to build a floating room within a room, pouring cement to secure my new floor/joists/walls and have a structure independent from the building.. room will be for reference playback, and electronic music production with near-field monitors and a pair of speakers I would like to build (another thread needed!) my outer dimensions are 9.2ft ceiling height, 9ft width, 12ft length looking at an interior dimension of 7ft,8ft, 9.73ft this is what I have so far.. raising the floor by 8.5 inches to incorporate 6" joists, 3/4 plywood floor, 1/4 laminated flooring.. and an open area of about 1.5" between the two floors.. 6 inch thick ceiling, with one foot of foam above for a total of 1.5ft of space between the bottom of the neighbours floor and myself.. walls will be around 6" thick.. with 1.5 inches distance from the outer wall of the house. 1.5" from another interior wall, and about 3.5 feet distance on the other wall (which will become a hallway..) -Looking for links to materials to fill the walls and ceiling? -Looking for ideas on speaker and console placement within the room? -Looking for advice to see if I am totally off base or on to something? I am a contractor and a cabinet maker.. so I will be doing the work myself and with a friend which should bring down costs.. Any help or ideas would be great, thanks guys!
Hi Please follow the posting rules and update your location. It will help the members of this forum direct you to what products are available in your area, for example. Also, either download and have a play with Google sketchup or do a simple sketch of your environment to give people a better understanding of what you have to work with. Pictures are always good too :thu:
