Finally getting around to building a ceiling cloud for over the mix position and have seen where lights are incorporated into the design. I really like that idea but was wondering if there should be any concern about reflections off the rails that the lights are mounted to.
Here's a basic design I've been kicking around. So far I was thinking about three 2' x 4' pieces of 703 separated by 6" wide stiles for the lights. Is it really not a huge deal? Any practical advice on the effect of the RFZ?
Cloud reflections

you can definitely get reflections off hard surface, but are they "mix killing"? probably not. that said, hanging the cloud high enough and angling the cloud sufficiently can help move the reflections. a 1.5" and 5.5" surface will reflect ~9Khz+ and ~2.5Khz+ respectively. if you're really concerned, considered adding a 1" layer of absorption over the face with openings for the lamps. you're more likely to have problems off the console and floor and adjunct surfaces closer to your head than the reflections off the cloud due to the angle where the sound hits your ears. ETC measurements will show the reflections, but your ears will behave differently.
