G'day. I'm a newbie to the Forum (having previously lurked a bit), & one of the old blokes in the Australian recording industry (guitarist). Does anyone have any gut feeling/thoughts/otherwise regarding the relative merits of either MLV or Homosote/Canite or MDF as the core material in bass management hangers? Obviously, there is quite a cost difference! From what I can gather, there's not much (no?) empirical data, so any illumination would be appreciated. Ta, Bob.

Bob - all the hangers I've seen in Tom Hidley studios were made from Caneite - Caneite is a brand name and is no longer manufactured and has been replaced with Soft Board which is a similar product. http://www.gunnersens.com.au/products/softboard.html This company claims to still stock sheets of Caneite. http://www.lifetime.net.au/caneite.htm
Thanks John. Hope life is good up north. Floods?...... This Forum is fabulous - thanks mate. Over, Bob.
we missed all the floods here in the upper Clarence. The channels through the town were full but not overflowing and creating any problem.
