Ok I have my floor plan and materials and cost per square foot I am gonna use, how do I calculate the total amount of materials needed bast on ft(squared). Sorry not very construction savy.
do you have a design? if you have a design that includes the details like framing etc, then you can simply count the parts and for framing and drywall etc add about 5% for waste.

I do have a design, but it does not include framing.
hmmmm.... there are some parts calculators out there which allow you to input the room dimensions and wall construction info and generate an reasonable approximation. then again, if you have the design and the design has specs, the builder should be able to calculate the materials needed.
I'm the builder, well not really, this is for a school acoustic project, so I need to come up with the materials costs myself, which I have done, based on the materials I have gathered.
so do you need to create a materials list or simply a cost estimate?
list with cost estimates
yea, then i'd look up (bing or google) the construction list estimators and plug in the specs and see what you get. then add 10% for framing and coverings.
thanks
