Yeah, I would like to go that way but I don't know anyone here who does it... I'm not sure if I can just rent the machine and do it myself, did you spray the foam on the open roof (from the inside) before you put any insulation up etc...?? how did you get even coverage? I would definitely reconsider if I had more info on the process...
here's an example room

Thanks Glenn, So am I getting closer with this approach? Should I put another small hanger above each speaker box in the soffit? (see 3rd pic)

Spraying foam, contrary to the adds for diy kits, is not something you want to do yourself. I don't know the folks working in your neck of the woods, but if you google it, I'd bet there are several local guys who could give you a quote. I personally prefer 2lb closed cell, but 1/2 lb is better acoustically. Also depends on your local inspector as to what is acceptable. Steve

definitely better. i think you have the number of hangers probably maxed out. one thought to keep in mind is lining the cavity with rigid insulation so take that into account when building the hangers, in some cases once you line it there might not be enough room for hanger in which case just make it like a super chunk. fill the open gap between the lining insulation with the pink stuff.
